I am a Singapore citizen with professional qualifications in music education, mainly pianoforte and am currently a free-lance trainer in piano teaching. As a music facilitator, I go into music schools and private homes where I worked closely with students of many nationalities and age groups. In my 30 years of teaching, I have worked closely with students from the Middle East, North America, Europe and Asia and their age groups range from 3 and half to 70 years of age.
Since 1991, I have worked in several teaching positions where I have enjoyed meeting and working with many varied personalities. One aspect of being a great piano teacher is having excellent organization skills, which include lesson planning, gathering materials, and ensuring that all types of assessments are completed in a timely manner. I feel that I do posses such characteristics.
I believe strongly in parent participation and involvement in education. Interaction with parents is vital to the child’s development, and an aspect of teaching. I immensely enjoy. I encourage parents to participate in at least one classroom activity throughout the year in order to create a connection between home and school environments.
My training with trinity in music allows me to bring rhythm, notation and harmony to my students. I use my paying playing to facilitate an exploration of music in which all students can participate. Through this participation, I give students the opportunity to enjoy making music as I have, and to reap the benefits of increased academic performance, aural and memory skills, and self-confidence.
